Inter-city (ICE) Trains offer express service between main cities such as Colombo-Kandy, Colombo-Vavuniya and Colombo - Baticoloa . Accommodation comprises of unreserved 3rd Class, reserved 2nd Class and Observation Saloon seats.
Fast-Passenger Trains offer semi-express service between Colombo and other major outstations. Accommodation includes unreserved 2nd and 3rd Class seats, reserved 2nd and 3rd Class seats, reserved 1st Class Observation Saloon , and reserved 1st Class Sleeping Berths. Reserved 1st Class Air-conditioned service is offered only on some routes.

1. Visiting Railway Stations – Reservations can be done from 30 days before the ‘Date of the Journey
2. Calling Mobitel Call Centre - only for Colombo-Kandy Intercity Trains

Steps to Follow -
1. Dial 365 in your Mobitel Telephone
2. The Mobitel Call Centre Operator will answer
3. Give your requirement and reserve your seat
4. You will receive a Reference Number through SMS
5. Show ( or tell ) this Reference Number to the Station Master ( at Colombo Fort, Gampaha, Peradeniya or Kandy ) or to any of the Mobitel Billing Centres
6. Then, you will receive the Train Ticket ( M-Ticket )
7. Your Train Fare will be added to the Mobitel Bill.
This facility will be extended to other Intercity Trains.

Colombo Commuter Trains offer stopping and semi- express service for commuters traveling to and from Colombo. Accommodation is unreserved 3rd class. The fares can be obtained by sending a SMS to 1919 ( Example of SMS format – slrd train Colombo Anuradhapura ) or from any railway station.
